He’s also very non-descriptive and will make up his own terms for things instead of finding the actual term. Would highly NOT recommend. Professor isn’t bad but he is boring. There is a paper every other week and the books are mandatory. Only one term paper and its only 4 pages. Not for someone looking for a crash course credit More for someone who wants to do a major. Blankinship knows his stuff, but is incredibly boring and gives out ridiculous study guides before tests.
Pretty sure he’s lost touch with reality. Hated the class with a passion because he’s an awful teacher. Someone should tell this teacher that we are taking other classes. Dr Blankenship’s expectation in his 3 credit course exceeded 4 credit courses. He tries to do his best to recite the history of the world to teach his small class.
He is the guy that takes 2 hours to tell a 10 minute story. Does not meet any student expectations in teaching. Reads directly from his printed notes without class participation.

Assigned 6 books for reading, he doesn’t discuss the books, but students write about the books which gives him insight. Poor class management between students. Listens to himself speak!
Professor Blankinship is an extremely, uniquely brilliant person. The depth of his religious knowledge, and historical knowledge is probably not equalled by many people anywhere. His class is not easy, but if you don’t act like an idiot in class, he’s an extremely kind and generous person, and will talk to you in his office for long blankinsyip of time. Blankinship knows his material.
Totally not what we studied the past four years; felt like a waste of time. He was not helpful. He did not answer emails. And he was completely not understanding of illness or weather related commuting issues. Blankinship, as others have said, is extremely knowledgeable on the subjects he teaches, as well as most related subjects.
He can be difficult because he expects the same thoroughness from your work as he uses in his teaching. His classes require work, but the rewards are high. My advice is to take his class seriously and you’ll do fine. Professor Blankinship is a very intelligent man, he is extremely well read and does not have to guess at anything when it comes to history or religion. His downfall, is like a lot of Professors, he has taught so long, that he doesn’t really want to do it anymore, and has lost his enthusiasm.
I think that he is very bias in his teaching. This was my most interesting class of the semester!!! There was A LOT of reading to do and he had very high expectations, but it was very interesting. IF you pay attention, then you will understand a lot of things you may have never even thought of.
I took a religions course and he expected us to know way too much specific information. You have to read for hours and hours through three books. The work load was for a higher level course and it was only to satisfy a core requirement.
Do not take this class!!! This guy is something else, he is so smart but he manages to teach almost nothing for an entire semester. He goes off on tangents, and never returns, he wakes up in the morning and asks himself “what will i rant about today?

I withdrew from this class Dry sense of humor, thinks you should know everything the way he does, gives hard study ohalid to do, tests are ridiculus. I think he should actually do something. The TA takes attendance, grades all hw, papers, and tests. B might be a brillant man, but if he’s not going to teach right he shouldn’t do it at all. All issues he directed to the TA. He gave out huge complicated study?
He was essentially a total disappointment. Makes everything very interesting. Understandable all the time. Ads can be annoying, but they allow us to provide you this resource for free.
